The Los Angeles Food Policy Council hosted the 9th Annual Food Day at LA City Hall on Friday, October 25, 2019. The theme was Currents of Food: Changing the Food System Through Art and Culture.

American Friends Service Committee’s Roots for Peace and All Peoples were selected as Councilmember Price’s Good Food Champion and presented with certificates during the event. Mayor Garcetti attended the event and spoke about “LA’s Green New Deal” – a sustainability plan to continue and accelerate the city’s efforts to combat climate change.

Additionally, attendees enjoyed the Food Day Art and Culture Showcase that featured local artists that create work about food and social issues.

Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard made a recent stop by All Peoples to take a tour of the Community Farm with Executive Director Saundra Bryant. The Congresswoman was able to speak with local families that are directly involved in growing produce.

American Friends Service Committee’s Roots for Peace and All Peoples Community Center celebrated the first year build out of the Community Farm! Community members came together on Saturday, May 18, 2019 for a ribbon cutting at the Community Farm.

The day was filled with excitement as Le Ballet Dembaya African Drum & Dance Ensemble performed for attendees.
