Sloan’s Farewell Celebration
Camp Joe Ide and Denton Roberts Family camp are held at Loch Leven Camp and Conference Center in Mentone California. On Saturday April 13, 2019 we took a group of youth up to Loch Leven to a farewell celebration for Sloan Hamilton, Operations Manager. Sloan served in this capacity for 8 years and enjoyed a special relationship with All Peoples counselors and campers. All Peoples was represented by staff and past campers. Upon arrival we were able to explore the camp on our own while we waited for the celebration to start. Some of the youth were able to participate in tree climbing. They climbed a tree named Mr. Majestic that was about 100 ft. tall. After the youth finished climbing, everyone gathered for a delicious meal. During the meal everyone had a chance to interact with each other. We met people from other camps and organizations. The youth and adult were able to write personal affirmations to Sloan as a going away gift. Don and Susan Dewey recognized Sloan for all the hard work that she and her husband Joseph have put into camp.
During the ceremony, Sloan, dedicated a memorial garden sponsored by Burch family. She also dedicated the area around Mr. Majestic where the youth climbed to volunteer Tom Reed who has helped make trails all over the camp. Tom Reed is a former All Peoples Board member. We wish Sloan and Joseph the best in their new endeavors.
