How would you describe All Peoples Community Center? I would describe All Peoples as a “second home” of the community. Over time, All Peoples has built a sense of advocacy, community, integrity, and value in South Los Angeles. All Peoples distinguishes itself from other nonprofits because it is deeply rooted in the community and understands the socio-economic issues of its residents. Thus, providing key services and resources that aim towards improving the overall wellness of the community are deeply appreciated by the residents.

Favorite Part of Your Job: My favorite part of my job is interacting with the community and supporting their financial goals. In South LA, it is difficult for residents to achieve financial stability when dealing with adverse economic forces (i.e. mismanaged credit, delinquent bills, high unemployment and underemployment rate, limited access to capital and asset building resources, among other concerns). Thus, the opportunity to provide financial education workshops and one-on-one financial coaching sessions to improve their financial outlook is very gratifying.

My Best All Peoples Story: It’s difficult to highlight because I am grateful to be part of a few success stories in collaboration with my colleagues. But, if I had to select one, I would underline the YouthSource Center Financial Literacy workshop. This workshop was a pilot program in collaboration with All Peoples’ FamilySource Center and YouthSource Center to educate the youth on proper financial management. The workshop was a complete success which included 15+ youth involved in the program. After their graduation, the youth sent me a letter of appreciation and demonstrated their knowledge gained from the program.

Hobbies: Reading, listening to podcast, volunteer work, going out with friends, learning the latest songs and dance moves (it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with these kids!).

Fun Fact About Me/Hidden Talent: Besides dancing, I love doing voice impersonations. Some of my favorites include Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog, Yogi the Bear, and Stitch.
