Favorite Quote: “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We Keep Moving Forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
How would you describe All Peoples Community Center: I would describe All Peoples as a place where no matter who you are, they will provide help. All Peoples is a home for the community and for the people who work here.
Favorite Part of Your Job: My favorite part of my job is the new work techniques I am learning from everyone. I am slowly opening up to new experiences and learning more while at the job. I also enjoy getting to interact with the kids and watching them learn as well and be a part of community events.
My best All Peoples story: During our Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, I worked as a lead server, making sure that the other volunteers and I got food to the tables where the families were being seated. I remember this event more because I was put in charge at one point by helping lead the volunteers to where they needed to go and making sure that we were working together as a team. At the beginning, it was very stressful because communication was not the best at first and there was not really a system yet on how to keep track of which tables had been served food. Once there was a system in place, it went smoothly, and I was proud of myself because I was more vocal with directions. I am a very introverted person, and I am not really one to tell people what to do or to speak up. So, the fact that I was speaking up and helping the volunteers is something that I am proud of because it showed me that I can lead a team.
