In January 2019, All Peoples FamilySource Center rolled out a new cycle of Financial Literacy Courses. All Peoples’ Financial Empowerment Program is packaged into a five-week mini-course consisting of 90 minutes modules. Each week, financial experts teach topics from the FDIC Money Smart curriculum, which is designed to help enhance financial wellness to Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) families. The Money Smart curriculum contains the following topics: basic budgeting; understanding credit reports; the do’s and don’ts of credit card usage; consumer’s right and protection; saving and investment products; among other subjects.

On Monday, February 20, 2019 we had a total of four individuals graduate from our English Financial Literacy Program, and on Wednesday, February 25, 2019, nine individuals graduated from our Spanish Financial Literacy Program. We would like to congratulate all of our graduates.

Edna Chavez

Empowering Our Youth!

“March For Our Lives LA” was held on March 24, 2018. Youth and Families marched for gun and weapon awareness and reform and to demand the end of mass shootings in our schools.

Edna Chavez, from our Slate-Z Partner Community Coalition, gave a speech at the Washington D.C. March on behalf of our South Los Angeles Community to raise awareness regarding gun violence and the empowerment that our Youth receive from Mentorship Programs, Mental Health Resources, Paid Internships, and Job Opportunities.

We’re proud to stand in Support of our Youth, and have strengthened our resolve to continue with our Mission to provide social services and programs that empower individuals, and promote community, respect, and self-determination for all.

Favorite Food: Pupusas de revuelta

Favorite Color: Green

Favorite Sports Team: Lakers, Rams, Dodgers, LAFC, Barcelona, Chivas, Kings

How would you describe All Peoples Community Center: All Peoples Community Center is fantastic and very helpful towards the community. It’s an organization that does the impossible to take care of the neighborhood. Despite the fact that sometimes our resources are limited, we provide a lot and useful information for those specific services that the clients are looking for.

Favorite Part of Your Job: I get to give back to the community. I enjoy doing so and helping our clients as much as possible. It is extremely rewarding to help others.

My best All Peoples story: It is very difficult to answer this question because I have many best All Peoples stories, but one that stood out the most was when I got hired. All my years after high school I was working hardcore labor for the minimum wage with absolutely no raise. I was working non-stop with no resting, and yet, I couldn’t afford anything but the rent and my daughter’s needs. I tried school but that wasn’t working either. I was ready to give up in life but before I did, I tried applying to All Peoples Community Center since I wanted give back before I gave up in life. The Lord heard my prayers, and APCC gave me an opportunity that no other company did. Thank You All Peoples for giving me a chance in life and changing it for the better.

Hobbies: Spending time with my family, playing sports, playing video games, and art.

Fun Fact About Me/Hidden Talent: Drawing skills, I made a short film at one of the famous Universal Studios Hollywood backlots. I love comics, watched almost every movie in the world, and striving to become a film director.

Me in 3 Words: Hard Worker, Charismatic, Determined

We’re so happy that David is part of our All Peoples Family!

APCC Gala - Saundra Bryant - Seth Walworth

All Peoples Executive Director Saundra Bryant with All Peoples Chair Seth Walworth

A Message from our Executive Director:

All Peoples is grateful for our corporate sponsors, foundations and individual donors who enable us to provide services to our South Los Angeles Community. With your help, we are able to provide a myriad of social and educational services to more than 6,600 people per year.

All Peoples has been growing and expanding at a rapid pace, and we want to emphasize our shared mission to protect the long-term health of this remarkable institution we are so privileged to serve. All Peoples Board of Directors oversees the fiscal health of the organization. The Finance Committee reports to the Board of Directors at every bi-monthly Board meeting, and a complete report of the agency’s finances (including its endowment and trust funds) are sent annually to all officers of the Board to be made available to all Board members. An external audit is also completed once a year.

I am proud to announce the brand new “Fiscal Responsibility” addition to the All Peoples website. This is another important step to protect the long-term health of our organization. Corporate sponsors, foundations and individual donors will now be able to review our audited financial statements and 990 tax forms here.

Thank you for entrusting us to proudly serve our South Los Angeles Community with Real Solutions, Real Heart, and Real Service.

Sincerely,

Saundra Bryant

Executive Director
